Many of our beliefs are unconscious, yet they play an important role in how we make decisions, choices, and actions about a person or a specific group of people. Simply put, we are programmed to see certain individuals and groups of people as different from us. We use these stereotypes to understand, engage, and judge a person or a specific group of people.

This bias or prejudice is seen not only in individuals but also in groups or institutions. These biases, conscious or unconscious (explicit or implicit), lead to inclusion or exclusion.
